I wrote this book in 1995 which is now re-published in this new edition by Walker Books. It tells the story of my happy family life on the Caribbean island of Trinidad which was torn apart by the heart-rending decision by my parents to make the momentous move to England. They, like so many people from the Caribbean were encouraged by tempting advertisements and made the decision to move to England and start a new life. The story recalls my struggle to overcome the adversity and rejection I experienced in cold bleak Britain to finally break down the barriers and learn how to cope and survive in two cultures.
